Prescription Drug Take-Back

October 21, 2011 at 2:11 PM

The Montello Police Department is participating in the National Pharmaceutical Take-Back Initiative sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Bring Unused Medications on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 10 a.m. to Noon.

The drop box will be located in the Montello Police Department at the Montello City Hall at 20 Underwood Avenue. The program provides an opportunity to establish a safe collection site for everyone, regardless of where they reside. Montello Police Department Law Enforcement Officers will be present at the drop-off location.

Controlled, non-controlled, and over-the-counter substances will be collected. This program is anonymous and all efforts will be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. No questions or requests for identification will be made.

Participants may dispose of medication(s) by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box.

All participants must retain possession of their own medication during the surrender process. Law enforcement personnel will not handle the medications at any time.

No effort will be made by law enforcement personnel to count, inventory, or log medications.

No liquids, intravenous solution, injectibles, or syringes will be accepted.

Illicit substances such as marijuana and methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in collection containers.
