Beverage Server Training

When you sell or serve alcohol, there are risks, including:

• Mistakenly selling to minors can put your business or organization at risk for lawsuits.
• Serving a drunk driver can risk lives.
• Organizations who sell alcohol at festivals or concession stands could be putting their members at personal risk for a lawsuit.

Wisconsin Law

In Wisconsin, the law mandates server and seller training for both on and off premise, licensed establishments. TIPS is a skills-based training program designed to prevent intoxication, underage drinking, and drunk driving. TIPS is an approved beverage server training class in the state of Wisconsin.

TIPS Classes

Beverage Server/Seller Training is for bartenders, waiters, waitresses, and clerks. Anyone who serves or sells alcohol should take this class.

Beverage Seller Training is also available for organizations who serve alcohol at festivals or concessions stands. Concession training is scheduled on an as needed basis. Please contact the HCHY office to set up a time for your group or organization to be trained. Training can help your group lower their risk of a lawsuit.
